Ambulance simulator and advanced simulations at CSM Zabrze
The Medical Simulation Center in Zabrze of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice is a modern educational space that allows future paramedics to acquire practical skills in conditions almost identical to reality. By using an ambulance simulator and high-fidelity simulation rooms, students learn to respond to crisis situations before they encounter them in real work.
Ambulance simulator – authentic pre-hospital zone
On the top floor of the CSM there is a fully equipped ambulance – an original ambulance that was transported into the building… through the roof! Although it has no engine and gearbox, it retains the complete equipment identical to that found in ambulances used by emergency medical teams.
The interior of the ambulance is equipped with:
- an advanced patient simulator that allows for performing procedures, assessing health status and responding to dynamic changes in vital parameters,
- an audio-video system that records the course of exercises and allows for detailed debriefing – analysis of the team’s actions after the simulation is completed.

High-fidelity simulations – various clinical environments
There are seven professional simulation rooms in CSM Zabrze that replicate real work environments:
- Hospital Emergency Department (ER)
- Intensive Care Unit
- Operating room
- Delivery and pediatric rooms
In each of them, students practice using realistic mannequins that:
- React to medical actions,
- Present symptoms of many diseases,
- Dynamically change vital parameters depending on the course of action.
Each session is recorded and discussed during debriefing – with analysis of decisions, effectiveness of actions and teamwork.
Learning through experience – key benefits
- A safe learning environment – students can repeat procedures multiple times without risk to the patient.
- Scenarios based on real cases – including extreme situations, such as cardiac arrest or multi-organ injuries.
- Development of team competences – exercises are held in groups, teaching communication, cooperation and crisis management.
- Experienced staff and modern infrastructure – this is a guarantee that graduates are prepared for real challenges in the emergency medical service system.
The future of rescue starts here
Classes at CSM Zabrze are more than just learning – they are practical preparation for real rescue situations. Thanks to the ambulance simulator and advanced high-fidelity simulations, students gain knowledge, experience and confidence in action that can save lives.
