“CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES – ONCOLOGICAL PATIENT” – SEMINAR

The Department of Emergency Medicine of the Medical University Silesia in Katowice, together with the Scientific Club of “Emergency Medicine” and the Medical Simulation Center in Zabrze, organized a seminar entitled “Contemporary challenges of emergency medical services – oncological patient”. The seminar was held on March 11, 2023 at the Medical Simulation Center in Zabrze, at Plac Dworcowy 3. 

The aim of the seminar was to present the specifics of diagnosing and treating a patient with an oncological disease who has contact with the personnel of the emergency medical team. Oncological patients constitute a large part of the interventions undertaken by the Emergency Medical Team, hence the importance of skillful and professional conduct. The seminar was additionally broadcast via a channel on the Facebook portal and was streamed on the YouTube platform.

Speakers: MD Marta Sowa – Oncology in Emergency Medical Services

Doctor Marta Sowa, a specialist in clinical oncology, working at the Clinical Hospital in Wrocław in the oncology department. She is a volunteer in the Rescue Team of the Polish Center for International Aid Foundation. She was awarded the Cross of Merit for Bravery by the President of the Republic of Poland for her mission in Lombardy at the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Paweł Kowalski – Pain treatment of oncological patients as part of the Medical Rescue Team, third-year student of Medical Rescue, deputy chairman of the Emergency and Catastrophe Medicine Club. Employee of the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Department, participant of numerous training courses, conferences and competitions in the field of medical rescue.
