Comprehensive educational environment
The Medical Simulation Center in Zabrze is a modern didactic and simulation space of the Silesian Medical University, offering comprehensive conditions for education – from theoretical classes to realistic clinical scenarios.
Simulation rooms and advanced equipment
The Center has specialized simulation rooms, such as an operating theater, intensive care unit, emergency room, delivery room, pediatric room and pre-hospital room with a full-size ambulance. Students practice medical procedures in them using high-fidelity simulators and phantoms that respond with changes in vital parameters – in conditions as close to clinical reality as possible.
Recording and debriefing
Each simulation session is recorded (audio-video and patient parameter recording) and then discussed in special debriefing rooms. Recording and monitoring systems support the development of self-reflection, critical thinking and teamwork skills.
Dental laboratories
The Centre has two modern laboratories for dentistry students – a phantom and a clinical one – equipped with dental units. They enable learning and improvement of endodontic and prosthetic techniques under the supervision of qualified instructors, in realistic conditions.
OsiriX Laboratory – advanced analysis of medical images
We have a professional laboratory with the OsiriX MD system – a leading tool for viewing and analyzing medical images in the DICOM standard.
- OsiriX MD is a certified medical device (FDA & CE), enabling advanced processing of 2D/3D/4D images, support for multimodal examinations (PET CT, SPECT CT) and integration with PACS servers.
Teaching space and e-learning
In addition to simulations, students use multimedia lecture halls and modern computer laboratories, integrated with the e-learning platform and electronic assessment system. The Center also offers hospital IT system simulators (e.g. Asseco), which enable learning how to use e-health administration.
Multidisciplinary education
The Center’s educational offer includes the following fields: medicine, emergency medical services and dentistry. We also conduct postgraduate courses, optional courses and our own educational projects – such as ambulance simulators or a rescue range.
